Different Stages of Manufacturing
Design Phase
This is the stage where it all begins. We can assist in designing a finished product, or we can work to a design that you have created. Having identified the correct methods of manufacturing, we would then move onto the manufacturing stage.
Building Phase
At this stage we will create your item using various methods. It is crucial to have things dialled-in and created as flawlessly as possible otherwise the finishing stage can be a time consuming, and sometimes an impossible task.
Post-Processing Phase
This is when the design comes to life, and various finishing methods can be applied giving the design its aesthetic pleasure. This at PrintWorks consists of either Painting, Hydrodipping or Metal Plating.
Frequently Asked Questions
This varies depending how many manufacturing processes your item would have go through, but, generally speaking we have a turn-around of 2 weeks, unless you can send your chosen part in to us, in which case, we can have your item back with you within a week.
Hydrodipping is limited by how smooth or contoured an item is. If there are extremely complex curves and right angles, this can make hydrodipping difficult due to trapped air which restricts the paint from adhering. Generally speaking hydrodipping is well suited to functional parts, and not so much to figurines due to a high level of detail where the surfaces are not equal, but this is not always the case.

3D printing is generally just limited by ones imagination. Using the correct method of 3D printing, any design can be realised. If there are complex geometries where there are overhangs, it is a good idea to process the parts to help hide any support blemishes. Gold plating, a paint job or hydrodipping can be a good way of making the part appear blemish free.
Gold Plating is generally limited by sheer size. At PrintWorks we are able to plate items up to a size of 3300 cm2 which should be more than sufficient for most applications. Get in touch and lets talk plating.
Everyday items such as trainers and fabrics can be hydrodipped but the application will have to be taken into account to ensure longevity. We are able to hydrodip literally anything; if it can survive being placed into water, then it can be dipped. Get in touch to discuss what is possible.
